Hi, I'm Jacqueline from York in England. I started this group because you get loads of support groups for people wanting to lose weight but mainly for women wanting to lose just 10lb to look better in a bikini, if I had their problem I'd certainly be happy. I want to look like their before photo, you know.... So I started The Shrinking Violets Diet Club for women wanting to lose more significant weight, for more than 3 stone (42lb)

My starting weight was 268lb, you can look at the photo's section to see my photographs. Diet club members can also post photo's to how their befores, during and show how they are doing with their weight loss. Often looking at photographs of yourself is a good way of seeing how well you are dooing, when you can see your weight coming off.
I was at the start of 2003 a UK size 24/26 and now a size 18/20 was a 46D at my largest, now a size 38D. I myself cannot weigh myself every week, I have to get weighed at the hospital using their sit down scales.

I'm trying to eat low fat foods and I give myself one day a week to look foreward to and have a treat of something nice (but not too nice, around a 450 calories) once a week as a REWARD for doing well and sticking to the diet that week.
View losing weight as more of a long term thing, so the weight stays off because your body doesn't go into shock at the sudden loss of food and calories. The best way to think is 'there's not a diet start and end day, because changing what you eat and eating more healthier foods, doesn't end once the weight is lost, once the weight is lost, I aim to keep it off'. This philosophy seems to work well for me. When tempted ask yourself 'is it worth it'?

If you aim to reduce the amount of calories and fat content a day, and eat more healthier, while not completely stopping having anything nice, just once a week as a REWARD in moderation, the weight will come off because you're eating better than you was, and more important, it will stay off.

Allowing a REWARD treat does help stay on a diet. You can become a bit all consumed by the diet don't you think when you look at the fat content of everything you buy.

If I'm able to have a treat though for the weeks REWARD I still look at the calories and fat content and decide which is the best to have. There was a few times in the past I had myself a treat, I didn't think was too bad and later to be shocked at the amount of calories, although it said on the packet low fat. Read the nutritional information even if it says low fat.

You can post to the list to let us know how you're doing, if you're not feeling to good, it's ok to say how you feel. Post any recipes suitable for when trying to lose weight (unfortunatley no death by chocolate cake - oh shucks). There's an area in the group you can post photographs if you want to start an album of your own photo's for the list to record in photographs how you are doing, create a folder and give it your name.
I've had this long relationship with food: if happy - eat, if sad - eat, if bored - eat. I think one of the biggest culprits is bordem and also trying to get out of the habit of thinking 'it's dinner time and so eat, when I'm not hungry, so I wish I was able to not eat out of a force of habit, just because it's time to eat and I'm not very hungry.

Swap tips, low calorie or low fat recipes. Let us know how you're doing, are you having a good week or a bad week, don't worry, we've all been there. It isn't easy especially when you want to lose a lot of weight, but with the friendship and support from other list members we will help each other. We will succeed together, we will succeed!
